Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO. / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1850, cylindrical jar rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Chip to one handle. Small base chip. Three minor chips to interior of rim. Wear to inner rim ledge where a lid would rest.
