Glazed Redware Flowerpot with Unusual Form, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," circa 1850-1880, ovoid pot with semi-rounded rim and attached saucer, the surface decorated with heavy manganese sponging over an orange ground. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. The ovoid form of this flowerpot is significantly rarer than John Bell's tapered examples. 2 1/2" hairline from rim. Roughness and wear to rim. Two minor glaze flakes to saucer. H 5 1/2" ; Diameter (at opening) 6 1/8".
