Rare Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Tree Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, the circumference decorated with a series of brushed cobalt trees along with what appears to be a small heron-like bird pecking at a branch. Highly unusual design. Significant restoration to underside. Restoration to base. 7" crack extending up from base. Small in-the-firing rim chips. Some wear to surface near shoulder. Flaking to interior. H 8".
