Twelve-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Freehand Decoration, Stenciled "WILLIAM & REPPERT / GREENSBORO / PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with lug handles, decorated with elaborate freehand vining at the shoulder and base, as well as dashes flanking the stenciled words. Freehand "12" at base flanked by leaves. A good example of this pottery firm's work. Provenance: From a thirty-five year Western PA collection. Very large Y-shaped crack on front, extending around side of jar. Chip to one handle. Some stained spots to surface. H 22 3/4".
