Extremely Rare Open-Handled Redware Jar Stamped "AUBURN, NY," Cayuga CO., NY, circa 1840-1860, ovoid jar with tooled foot, rounded rim and ribbed open handles, the surface covered in a lead glaze over a bright orange ground. Impressed with extremely rare "AUBURN, NY" mark on front and back. One of two known examples bearing this mark. To this day, no information has been found on a redware pottery in the town of Auburn. Base chips. Some exfoliation to surface, mostly near base. Chips and wear to rim. H 8".
