Molded Stoneware Tree Stump Planter, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1870, planter molded in the form of a tree stump with raised bark and ivy, the vessel fashioned with five openings for planting. Original drain hole at base. Salt-glazed surface over a dark brown glaze. Impressed with Frank B. Norton maker's mark on underside. Chips to edges of rims. Spots of exfoliation to surface on exterior. A few larger areas of exfoliation on interior. Base chip. Faint lines in underside. H 11 1/2".
