Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "EDMANDS & CO.," Charlestown, MA origin, circa 1860, keg-form cooler with tooled bands and circular bung hole, the front decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a ring-necked bird with spotted body, perched on a leafy vine. Scarce and desirable form. Crisp decoration with excellent color. Includes metal spigot embossed "FENN / NO 3." Provenance: Purchased by the consignor in the Cape Cod area in 1976. Chips on interior of rim. H 12 1/4".
