Stoneware Face Jug, Incised "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, 20th century, one-gallon jug with applied facial features, including eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. The teeth and eyes composed of kaolin. The face assumes a somewhat serious or reserved expression. Surface covered in a streaky olive alkaline glaze. Incised "Lanier Meaders" on underside. Provenance: Purchased directly from Meaders at a Smithsonian Craft Show in the early 1980’s. Mint condition. H 10".
