Lidded Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "THOMAS D. CHOLLAR / CORTLAND," NY State origin, circa 1840, approximately one-gallon highly-ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized foliate design and cobalt over the makers mark. Includes salt-glazed stoneware lid. 2 3/4" poorly-restored section to rim. 1 3/4" hairline from rim. Lid with large section reglued and glazed-over chip. H 9".
