One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Stylized Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK JR / ATHENS NY," circa 1860, cylindrical jar with sloped shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt foliate or bow design accented with cobalt spots. 4 1/2" hairline under one handle. 4" hairline from rim on reverse and a 2" hairline from rim above one handle. Poorly restored chips to both handles. Shallow chipping to inner ledge where a lid would rest. H 11".
