Very Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stamped "R.J. & C. SIPLEY / ERIE, PENN," circa 1852, cylindrical jar with coved rim and applied lug handles, accented with cobalt highlights to impressed marks. Two large chips on exterior. Two small chips on interior of rim. Hairlines in rim on reverse, one of which extends onto shoulder. Tiny chips to one handle. Small chip to shoulder molding. A few faint lines in underside, which do not extend through to interior. H 11 1/4".
