Rare Stoneware Bank with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "T. LAVAKE," probably New York State origin, mid 19th century, ovoid bank with tall, tiered finial ending in a point, decorated on two sides with a bright cobalt flower. Impressed on one side "T. LAVAKE," highlighted in cobalt. Vertical coin slot on opposite side. "T. LAVAKE" was likely the bank's owner. Color of clay and style of decoration is indicative of stoneware from the Northeast, most notably Upstate New York. Outstanding form. Wear to slot. Height 5 3/4".
