Three Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Northeastern U.S. origin, first quarter 19th century, two ovoid, handled jars, the larger with elaborate brushed floral motif on front and reverse and cobalt-highlighted handle terminals, probably William Nichols, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1823, the smaller with brushed two-petaled floral motif on front and cobalt-highlighted handle terminals, possibly also William Nichols; together with a small ovoid jug with brushed stylized floral motif and cobalt-highlighted handle terminals, attributed to the Bissett Family, Old Bridge, NJ. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Larger jar with broken and reglued base/underside, with cracks ascending base, cracks from rim, and a small glazed-over rim chip. Smaller jar with a long inverted Y-shaped line from rim on reverse, two in-the-firing contact marks to decorated side, and base chipping. Jug with a 3/8" hole in reverse, a small spout chip, a 2" H-shaped line emanating from a small ping on front, and a salt drip and brown slip drip to shoulder. H (of jug) 10".
