Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, NY State origin, second quarter 19th century, a one-gallon cylindrical jar with brushed floral motif, stamped "JOHN BRICKNER / ALBANY," paired with a two-gallon highly ovoid jug with brushed floral motif, stamped "BOUCK & ORCOTT / SCHOHARRIE(sic) C H," referring to a merchant firm in Schoharie Court House, NY. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Jar with heavy chipping to proper left handle, various lines to body of jar, light wear to inner rim for lid, sticker residue to shoulder on front, and an X-shaped line to underside. Jug with areas of fry to cobalt, a flake to decoration, some staining, and small in-the-firing surface flaws. H (of jar) 9 3/4".
