Two Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, West Troy, NY origin, third quarter 19th century, each of cylindrical form, one with slip-trailed bird motif, stamped "WEST TROY / N.Y. / POTTERY," the other a syrup jug with brushed floral motif, stamped "WM.E.WARNER / WEST TROY." Both with cobalt-highlighted maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Bird jug with spout chips, fry to cobalt, staining to surface, a narrow 1 1/4" base chip, a smaller base chip, a minor glazed-over base chip, small in-the-firing fissures to underside, and some staining. Floral jug with spout chips, a small inverted U-shaped surface crack, staining to surface, and minor in-the-firing surface flaws. H (of taller) 14 1/2".
