Three Stoneware Jars, PA origin, second half 19th century, all of ovoid form, a one-and-a-half-gallon example with brushed floral motif featuring a blossom composed of graduated spots, stamped with error mark, "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISRURG(sic) / PA," circa 1865; a smaller jar with brushed floral motif, stamped "SIPE & SONS / WILLIAMSPORT," circa 1885; and an undecorated jar, stamped "H.H. ZIGLER / NEWVILLE, PA." Cowden & Wilcox jar with a 2 1/4" loss to rim, some fry to cobalt, and staining to surface. Sipe & Sons jar with spider lines in underside. Zigler jar with a few short lines from rim and heavy staining and residue to surface. H (of tallest) 9".
