Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Geometric Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "A.L. HYSSONG / BLOOMSBURG, PA," circa 1891-1914, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and pierced clay tabs fitted with a wood-and-wire bail handle, brush-decorated on the front with a highly unusual geometric design of a diamond with T-shaped motifs emanating from the corners. Brushed cobalt highlight to base of spout. Includes old wooden lid. A 1" flake to rim on reverse. A small chip to interior of rim. H 9 1/4".
