Two Slip-Decorated Stoneware Spaniels, TX origin, fourth quarter 19th century, two molded figures of a spaniel on slab base, one decorated with sponged cobalt-slip splotches throughout and highlights to the face, the other featuring sponged black-slip splotches. Bristol-slip-glazed grounds. Cobalt-decorated example with restored muzzle, base chips, and traces of old red paint. Black-decorated example other with restored muzzle and base chips. H (of each) 7 1/2".
