Glazed Redware Pitcher, possibly Greene County, TN, second or third quarter 19th century, thin-walled, ovoid pitcher with footed base, flared collar, and heavily ribbed handle, the surface coated in a heavy lead glaze over light-colored clay. Unusual and appealing yellowish-green coloration with orange spotting to the surface. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Provenance: Carole Wahler Collection, acquired from Marcus King. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with three very minor base chips, which appear to have occurred in the firing. H 5 1/2".
