Rare Glazed Stoneware Harvest Jug with Applied Corn Motifs, OH origin, fourth quarter 19th century, beehive form with applied wide and narrow pouring spouts and molded, rope-form handle with leaves at its base; decorated on one side with a molded design of a flower surrounded by leaves, on the opposing side with a large molded acanthus leaf, as well as on the two other sides with unusual molded corn motifs. Surface covered in a chocolate-brown Albany slip glaze. This jug's depiction of corn suggests it may have been made to hold corn whisky. Excellent condition with a minor base chip. H 11 1/2".
