Four-Quart Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "EVAN. R JONES / PITTSTON. PA.," circa 1875, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and pierced clay tabs with wood-and-wire bail handle, brush-decorated on the reverse with a horizontal tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and base of spout. Includes metal lid and spout cover. Excellent condition with a minor spout nick, a salt drip to front, a tiny rim nick on reverse, and some expected wear to clay tabs. H 8 3/4".
