Stoneware Jar with Impressed Bird Decoration, attributed to Jacob Caire, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1850, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, and flaring, semi-squared rim, featuring two impressed and cobalt-highlighted bird-on-branch motifs at the shoulder. Rim chips. Chips and wear to inner rim for lid. A minor chip to shoulder molding on reverse. Staining throughout. An area of exfoliation to far left side of jar's front. A large, tight spider crack across underside, forming short lines at base. H 9 1/8".
