Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "EXCELSIOR WORKS / Isaac Hewitt, Jr. / RICES LANDING, PA.," circa 1875, ovoid jar with incised banding to midsection, tooled shoulder, and semi-rounded rim "wax sealer" interior, featuring Isaac Hewitt maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled flourish. A 1 1/4" chip to inner wax sealer rim. Minor chipping to interior of rim. Minor in-the-firing surface flaws. H 8 1/4".
