Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Pruntytown, WV origin, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with slightly flared collar, brush-decorated with a distinctive Pruntytown flower between freehand stripes. Additional stripe and dash decoration to spout and collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and cobalt stripe spanning the length of the handle. Glued and colored crack around entire base, extending through wavy cobalt stripe at base on front. This horizontal crack joins a vertical filled and colored crack on the proper right side of the pitcher, which extends to the rim. A small in-the-firing ping above handle at rim. Minor chipping to bottom edge of pitcher. H 10 1/4".
