Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Drape-and-Tassel Motif, probably Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily tooled shoulder, footed base, and open loop handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with stylized, dotted drapes interspersed with hanging tassels. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Rim of jar is out of round. A thin 3" crack from rim. A 1 1/4" line above one handle. A minor worn spot to midsection. Typical, minor in-the-firing flaws, including two small surface fissures underside (not visible on interior), and some small in-the-firing contact marks to surface. Some minor residue to shoulder on one side. H 10 1/2".
