Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "J. REMMEY. / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK.," John Remmey III, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout with rounded mouth, decorated with cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and handle terminals. Potter's fingerprints at base in brown slip. Long in-the-firing horizontal lines at base. An approximately 5" C-shaped line near base on proper right side of jug. A small T-shaped line at base on front. Small base chips. An in-the-firing ping to reverse partially filled with plaster. H 14 1/4".
