Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "A," attributed to Pottersville Stoneware Manufactory, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1820s-1830s, highly-ovoid jug with finely-potted, stepped spout, the surface coated in a two-tone alkaline glaze featuring a light gray body with striated olive runs descending from the shoulder. Reverse base impressed with "A" stamp. Possible faint "C" stamp impressed near midsection. A beautifully-glazed example. Professionally restored handle. Professionally restored spout chips. A few in-the-firing horizontal lines to base area. H 12".
