Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Incised Slash Marks, Edgefield District, SC origin, circa 1820-1840, highly-ovoid jug with pronounced shoulder molding and semi-squared spout, the surface covered in a mottled gray-green alkaline glaze. Incised at shoulder with two vertical slash marks. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. A small spout chip. In-the-firing surface fissures and glazed-over lines throughout. H 16".
