Fine Anna Pottery Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware "Railroad and River Guide" Pig Flask, Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1875, molded flask in the form of a reclining pig with spout at rear, incised details to face and hooves, and anatomically correct underside. Incised on one side with the inscription, "Latest and most reliable / Railroad and River Guide / with a little good Old Bourbon in a hogs / By / Anna Pottery." Remainder of pig incised with a railroad map of the Midwest, including the following landmarks: Miss River, Grand Tower, C & St L R.R., O & M. R.R., Alton, C A & St L R.R., Springfield, Bloomington, Jonesboro, i.C.R.R., Centralia, Odin, C.B.i.C.R.R., Carbondale, C. & V. R.R., Mounds, Vincens, Anna the Jug City, Cairo the, Cincinnati the Pork City, and Chicago the Corn City. Provenance: From a long-term Illinois collection consigned to this auction. Very nice condition with a few worn spots to spout and typical in-the-firing contact marks to legs and underside. L 7 1/2".
