Two Two-Gallon Stoneware Jugs, American, fourth quarter 19th century, one with freehand cobalt stripe and stenciled foliate designs, stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO / PA.;" paired with a Bristol-slip-glazed jug with the cobalt-script advertising, "Forbes & Botbyl, / 347 Grand St, / Paterson, / N.J." Taller with restored spout and handle and unrestored firing flaws to surface. Shorter with chips and wear to spout, an in-the-firing contact mark to front, a large flake and two small chips to handle, a base chip, and an in-the-making dent to bottom edge. H (of taller) 14 3/4".
