Four Marked Stoneware Jars, American, second half 19th century, a canning jar with original tin lid, stamped "B.C.MILBURN," Alexandria, VA origin; an ovoid Albany-slip-glazed jar, stamped "THOMAS & BRO. / HUNTINGDON PA;" a canning jar with pierced rim, stamped "GALLOWAY'S / EVERLASTING JAR / PAT'D FEB 6th, AND PAT.AP. FOR / 1870;" and a small-sized jar, stamped with cobalt-accented advertising, "TODE BROS / 210 BOWERY / NEW YORK." Provenance: Herb and Carol Hausmann Collection. Milburn jar with three small base chips, a minor rim chip, and minor surface wear. Huntingdon jar with heavy wear to rim and lesser surface wear to body. Galloway's jar with in-the-firing contact marks to body and two minor in-the-firing chips to underside. Tode Bros jar in excellent condition with some staining. H (of tallest) 7 7/8".
