Scarce Graduated Group of Four Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Chicken Waterers, probably NJ origin, circa 1885, each of domed form with hooded watering trough and knob-shaped finial, decorated with cobalt highlights. Measuring two, one, three-quarters, and one-half gallons, each impressed as such. Half-gallon waterer in excellent condition. One-gallon waterer with two nicks to opening and a crack at base, forming a thinner network of cracks in underside. Three-quart waterer with a short, vertical crack at base, extending onto underside, two base chips, and chips to opening. Two-gallon waterer with heavy chipping to opening, chips to finial, various tight lines to upper body, lines and crazing to base, two small base chips, staining, and a 2 3/4" shallow flake to underside. H (of largest) 13 3/4".
