Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J.J. LAWLOR, / ALBANY, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a leafy branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A 4 1/2" Y-shaped line to reverse, not visible on interior. Two in-the-firing contact marks near base on front. A small rim chip and some minor rim wear, colored black. Scratches and wear to interior. A large tight Y-shaped line on underside. A small in-the-firing metallic inclusion at shoulder on front. H 9 5/8".
