Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. PEPSON / ALBANY,N.Y," circa 1860, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large bird on stylized branch, each accented with spots. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A thin 3 1/4" crack from rim on front. Heavy staining throughout. A 9 1/4" in-the-firing surface line from rim on reverse, not visible on interior. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing surface line from rim on interior, not visible on exterior. A small flake to shoulder on reverse. A small chip to proper left handle. H 10 3/8".
