Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Iron Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC origin, circa 1845, highly-ovoid pitcher with footed base and narrow, dramatically-flared collar, the surface covered in an olive-green alkaline glaze, decorated around the midsection and on the collar with upswept slip-trailed swags of iron slip. Restored handle. Some restoration to rim and spout. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing flake to underside, beside a small in-the-firing flake. A small piece of adhered clay to body. Minor wear around midsection. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. H 10 3/4".
