Scarce Handled Redware Spittoon, Stamped "JOHN W. BELL / Waynesboro, Pa," late 19th century, with footed base, coved midsection, carved oval opening to shoulder, and recessed circular opening in top, fitted with a vertical handle. Surface decorated with sponged manganese and covered in a heavy lead glaze. Impressed with John W. Bell maker's mark on underside. Shallow chips to underside along bottom edge. Some surface-level scratches near opening on top. Diam. 5 3/8" ; H 2 5/8".
