Large-Sized Lidded Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, tapering jar with footed base, rounded shoulder, and slightly-flared rim, the surface dipped in whitish slip, decorated around the shoulder with heavily-sponged cobalt, and covered in a clear salt glaze. Includes original salt-glazed lid with knob finial. Jar in excellent condition with a small rim chip and a tiny nick to inner rim for lid. Chips to lid, primarily to finial. H (including lid) 9 1/2".
