An estimate is an expected selling price for an item at auction. Unlike almost every major auction house in the country, we handle our own shipping in-house. We understand how frustrating it can be to have to work with third-party shippers to have your objects delivered to you. Meanwhile, we also understand how important it is for you to receive your objects safely. We have over 40 years of experience safely packing antique ceramics. By default your invoice will include a shipping total via UPS Ground; you can also, of course, pick up objects at our gallery. Please feel free to contact us if you would like a quote. (A very few lots will have notes at the end of their descriptions letting you know that the object is too big or fragile for us to handle shipping ourselves.)

Exceptional Four-Handled Stoneware Vase with Chinese Blue Glaze, Stamped "JUGTOWN WARE," Jugtown, NC origin, circa 1930, large-sized, ovoid vase with tooled body and tapering neck with semi-rounded rim, the neck surrounded with four applied strap handles, the shoulder embellished with a curving incised band of clay resembling rope, the entire form modeled after early Middle Eastern ceramic jars. Surface covered in a colorful "Chinese Blue" glaze featuring streaks of turquoise with red accents. Albany-slip-type glaze to interior. Impressed on underside with Jugtown maker's mark. Combining outstanding form, size, and glaze, this vase set a record for an example of North Carolina art pottery when it sold in 2006 for $31,350 at a Southern Folk Pottery Collector's Society auction in Bennett, NC. A 3/8" drilled lamp wire hole at base. Otherwise excellent condition. H 17".
