Fine Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Iron Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, possibly with Reverend John Trapp, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1848-1852, ovoid jug with small, tooled spout, iron-slip-decorated around the shoulder with a slip-trailed looping line below a script "2." Celadon-colored, alkaline-glazed ground with large bluish run to one side. Superb color. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 13 1/2".
