Extremely Rare Glazed Stoneware Chicken Waterer with Incised Native American Decoration, probably Joseph G. Baynham, Trenton, SC, late 19th century, domed form with carved and watering trough and button-shaped finial, incised with a detailed drawing of a Native American with elaborate headdress, earrings, and shawl. Surface covered in a mottled-brown glaze with ash deposits to shoulder. Incised Southern stoneware decoration of this decorative quality is highly unusual. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a few typical, minor in-the-firing flaws. H 10 3/4".
