Stoneware Chicken Waterer with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical form with applied water trough, pointed finial, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated with vertical tulip motifs on the reverse and sides and with foliate designs where the trough meets the body of the vessel. Additional foliate motifs at base of trough. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt below each handle. Shoulder impressed with a cobalt-highlighted circle surrounded by three semi-circular lines. Heavy chipping to one handle. Two chips to opposite handle. A chip and minor nick to base. Tight spider lines to finial. H 9 3/4".
