Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, attributed to William "Leet" Hamilton, Greensboro, PA, circa 1860, semi-ovoid jar with tooling to midsection and shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with an undulating vine between freehand stripes, above a cobalt script "6" flanked by vertical wavy stripes with horizontal wavy stripe below. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Heavy staining. Otherwise excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 16 3/8".
