Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD N.Y.," circa 1865-1867, semi-ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized floral motif. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Excellent condition with an in-the-firing overfired spot to front and some light staining. H 14 1/4".
