Elaborate Swiss Sgraffito Redware Dish with Figural Decoration, Dated 1779, decorated in multi-colored slip with a central image of a bearded man in chair, reading a book, surrounding by an inscription and the date, 1779. Marbled copper and manganese decoration to reverse. Broken with old staple restoration. Additional flakes and wear to interior. Diam. 11 1/2".
