Monumental Lidded Stoneware Face Jar, Signed and Dated "Jerry Brown / Nov. 2001 / Hamilton Al / #1," large-sized, semi-ovoid jar with flared rim and two applied vertical handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a hand-modeled and applied clay face featuring kaolin eyes and teeth. Wheel-thrown lid features two additional applied faces. Surface of jar and lid covered in a brown Albany-slip-type glaze with sporadic blue glass runs. Base of jar incised twice with Jerry Brown signature and date. Underside of jar and lid incised with additional Jerry Brown signature and date. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H (including lid) 24".
