Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA origin, circa 1975, rotund jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including unglazed eyes with black-slip pupils, arched eyebrows, semi-squared ears, pointed nose with carved nostrils, broad chin, and open mouth with rock teeth. Heavily-depressed areas to the jug below chin and flanking the mouth add realistic structure to the face. Surface covered in a mottled, dark-olive alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. Desirable form and rock teeth treatment. Excellent condition with two short in-the-firing lines emanating from the incised signature on underside. H 9 1/4".
