One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JFS," James Franklin Seagle, Lincoln County, NC origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared collar, and semi-rounded rim, the surface covered in an olive-green alkaline glaze. Impressed with James Franklin Seagle maker's mark at shoulder, omitting the usual "J" from the stamp. A tight 3" diagonal crack from rim. Some wear to inner rim for lid. H 11".
