One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly-brushed floral motif of two tulips emanating from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Unusual style of tulip, excellent size, and outstanding color. A 3" crack from rim. Minor wear to one handle. Some very minor rim wear. H 9 1/2".
