One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT.," circa 1855, ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 5 1/4" vertical line ascending from base on reverse. A few minor in-the-firing pings to surface. Some light staining to reverse. Spout is slightly crooked. H 12 1/2".
