Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Howe & Clark, Athens, NY, circa 1805-1813, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and slightly-flared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a stylized slip-trailed floral motif featuring a scalloped blossom with spotted interior. Unusual scalloped decoration to handle terminals. Provenance: Warren F. Hartmann Collection. Areas of restoration to rim. A few small rim chips. A 2 1/4" x 2 1/8" X-shaped surface line near base, not visible on interior. Minor chipping to base. Exfoliation to interior. H 10".
